Amane Kaoru, a sixteen year old with a serious, life-threatening health problem. It seems Kaoru suffers from xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a "sun allergy" of sorts, which makes exposure to direct sunlight a deadly risk for her. Since she cannot go out in the day, Kaoru spends her evenings indulging in her love of music, as she plays her guitar and sings away every night in front of the local train station. Singing is her only joy in life - that is, until one fateful encounter!

Vers Mathilde is a silent meeting of two creative women. Claire Denis, filmmaker, films the bodies and their language in close up. Mathilde Monnier, choreographer, uses movement, extending beyond the dance form, to seek out new windows onto life. Their meeting reflects a strong, close working relationship and Claire Denis' desire to further explore the mystery of move-ment. ?I wanted to capture what happens when the body starts working; to try and catch the work in progress?

Shinnojo Mimura is a low-ranked samurai of the Unasaka clan living frugally with his beloved wife Kayo. 'I want to resign my post, and teach children fencing,' he confides, but a dark end comes to his time of blissful peace on the day that, as a poison taster to the lord of the clan, he goes blind. The duty that only a few days before he complained was a bore is one he can no longer perform. It is only Kiyo's pleading that persuades the despairing Shinnojo not to kill himself, but she falls into the clutches of the clan's Chief Duty Officer, Toya Shimada, trying to get him to put in a good word for her beloved husband. Shinnojo, feeling that this action is a betrayal that severs the matrimonial ties, announces that he is divorcing Kayo, and vows revenge.
